  • Fabric

  • Be sure to fasten any hook and loop closures before washing to prevent them from snagging on your clothes. Wash your shirt in cold water and we recommend hanging it to dry. If you dry your shirt in the dryer, do so on low.

If you have tie dye or a dark fabric, we recommend washing your shirt separately and adding a cup of white vinegar to your wash to set the colors before wearing it.

  • Curly fleece is a heavier sweater fleece that has a fleece backing with a curly chenille front. It is warm, soft and very comfortable.

  • French terry is a heavier knit, similar to a light sweatshirt but with terry instead of the fleece. We also have baby French terry which is a little lighter weight.

  • Moleskin and ultra suede are usually polyester fabrics that have a suede like feel to the fabric. They are washable.

  • Polyester jersey is a lighter medium weight polyester knit that is soft and silky feeling.

  • Rayon is a manufactured fiber made from natural sources such as wood and agricultural products that are regenerated as cellulose fiber. The many types and grades of rayon can imitate the feel and texture of natural fibers such as silk, wool, cotton, and linen. Rayon is being used in many garments in place of cotton since it tends to be breathable and cool in hot and humid weather.

  • Wickaway is a characteristic of the fabric. Each wickaway fabric is different in weight and texture. Wickaway knits are durable polyester jersey developed for athletic and workwear. Offering skin friendly softness with a nice stretch. It is made with wicking filament yarns to help keep the wearer cool and free from chilling effects of sweat. The fabric draws moister away from your skin and is very comfortable.

  • Most of our medium weight woven cotton fabric is the same weight as cotton quilting fabric. We do occasionally have some of the heavier weight twill type woven cotton and it will say that it is heavier in the fabric description. Please note that the woven cotton will be somewhat stiff until it is washed. The darker the color the stiffer it tends to be before washing.

  • Sizing

  • You can watch a video on how to put on your shirt here.

    1.  Shoulder opening shirts – If your shirt opens at the shoulder with hook and loop fastener (Velcro like), most people step into the shirt, pull it up and then fastened it at the shoulder. (It should fit under any sling/immobilizer you may have.) Many people find it is easier to get dressed in front of a mirror, at least when you first start so you get use to the placement of the fastener and fastening style of your Shoulder Shirt™. Also enclosed is a ribbon: this attaches to the back shoulder and aids in fastening on the shoulder opening shirts. If you are looking for a more fitted look after you are no longer wearing your sling/immobilizer, we do offer easy to fasten belts.

    2.  Side opening shirts – Side opening shirts should be opened on the side that you have surgery. The shirts can be put on over your head and then pulled either under or over your sling/immobilizer. You can then fasten the snaps on the side after you have your shirt on.

  • Most people can wear their normal size. We don't recommend going up a size without checking our sizing chart. Our shirts tend to run big and are made to fit loosely like a pajama top so that you have plenty of room to move after your surgery. Your shirt will not fit snug like your normal clothing.

Click on the light blue button marked "Size chart" which is located by the SKU towards at the top of the listing.

The last couple of measurements on the sizing chart are the approximate actual circumferences and length. You need to be sure that the chest circumference measurement allows you to pull up your shirt comfortably over your hips since they are made to be able to step into and pull up to fasten. Most of the shirts' chest measurements will be 3-9" larger than your actual chest circumference, depending on the style (the sleeveless shirts are on the lower end of that scale).

Also, please note that the knit fabrics are going to wear larger than the woven fabrics due to their stretchiness.
